HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN LOVE?
LOVING GOD | 1 John 2:3-6
We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. – 1 John 2:3
If you love me, keep my commands. - John 14:15
LOVING OTHERS | 1 John 2:7-11
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. - John 13:34
DON’T FORGET WHO YOU ARE | 1 John 2:12-14
I am writing to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name. 1 John 2:12
DON’T LOVE THE WORLD | 1 John 2:15-17
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

NEVER SACRIFICE THE ETERNAL ON THE ALTER OF THE IMMEDIATE!
Where are you loving the world?
Where is the world pulling you away from a deeper relationship with God?
Where do you need to say, “NO” to the world and, “YES” to Jesus?
LIFE GROUP DISCUSSION:
SHARE: How do you know you are in love? Is it different when we are talking about loving God? How do you know you love God?
READ: 1 John 2:3-6. What is the best way to tell if someone loves God? What does it mean by, living how Jesus did?
READ: Deuteronomy 6:5; 10:12-13; 30:16; Joshua 22:5; John 14:15. How do these verses tell us to demonstrate love for God?
READ:1 John 2:7-11 / John 13:34. What is the new command John is giving? Was it really a new command?
READ: Matthew 25:40,45. What does this tell you about how we demonstrate our love for God?
READ: 1 John 2:12-14. What is John trying to tell the readers? Who would Jesus say you are?
READ: 1 John 2:15-16. What does it mean not to love the world? Read John 3:16… What is the difference between God loving the world and our loving the world?
DISCUSS: Give examples of things that are; The Lust of the Flesh, The Lust of the Eyes, The Pride of Life. Is there one of these you struggle with the most?
