Complaining, Philippians 2:14-18

Romans 12:2, Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Philippians 2:14-18, Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. 17 Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18 Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.

“Among those sins most exquisitely fitted to injure the soul and destroy the testimony, few can equal the sin of complaining.”
- A.W. Tozer
Jeremiah 12:1-4, “Righteous are you, O Lord, when I complain to you; yet I would plead my case before you. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all who are treacherous thrive? 2 You plant them, and they take root; they grow and produce fruit; you are near in their mouth and far from their heart. 3 But you, O Lord, know me; you see me, and test my heart toward you. Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and set them apart for the day of slaughter. (wonderful prayer from the profit = slaughter them) 4 How long will the land mourn and the grass of every field wither? For the evil of those who dwell in it the beasts and the birds are swept away, because they said, “He will not see our latter end.”

Jeremiah 12:5, “If you have raced with men on foot, and they have wearied you, how will you compete with horses?”

Jeremiah 1:7,8, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.”
1. Undergo a complaint detox.

2. Practice being positive.

Philippians 4:8, Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

3. Practice expressing gratitude.

Psalm 116:17, I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the Lord.

4. Practice being content.

Philippians 4:11-13, I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

5. Be less judgmental.

James 5:9, Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.

6. Bite your tongue.

Isaiah 53:7, He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth…
What is God saying to you?
What are you going to do about it?
