1. The true test of what has a GRIP on your heart is your WILLINGNESS to leave it behind you
Priesthood / Royalty of Believer: 1 Peter 2:9, 2 Timothy, 2:12, Revelation 1:6, 2:26, 3:21, 5:10, 20:6
2. To be filled with the HOLY SPIRIT means you remove the CONTROL anything else may have on your life
3. Drunkenness is the escape from COMMON SENSE and CONVICTION
4. The Gospel came to TRANSFORM our daily lives by uncovering our lifeless IDOLS

“Many of the people who led the social and political movements of the sixties and the eighties naively assumed that once old restrictions were removed and individuals liberated, better ways of living would automatically appear. But in life things are not that easy. If we start up-ending obsolete social norms, pretty soon we will notice that valuable ones, like civility and manners, get weakened too. By dissolving social ties in order to unleash individual self-expression, valuable community bonds are eroded as well… If the sixties and the eighties were about expanding freedom and individualism, we are not left to cope with excessive freedom and excessive individualism.” -David Brooks
5. When we are OBSESSED with our own freedom, it’s an indication we are not actually FREE.
6. Love and care for a brother or sister DETERMINES Christian ethical life, not FREEDOM.
7. A CALLUSED heart towards another is an indicator of a COLD heart towards what the Lord may be asking of me

Talk About It

Discussion Questions:
1. Have you ever had an experience where your judgement affected someone else unintentionally? Describe that experience.

2. Read Ephesians 5:17-18. How does a life filled with the Holy Spirit and His direction counter act what Paul lists out in that passage?

3. Is there an area of your life that the Holy Spirit has spoken to you about giving up a “freedom” for the sake of another believer?

Next Step:
• Is there an area of your life where you have been callused towards your church community? What might the Lord be asking of you?
