14 “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this:
To the church of Laodicea, from Jesus.
15 ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.
You have lost your distinction. (your passion)
Passionless followers of Jesus make him sick to his stomach.
You have lost your distinction. (your passion)
Passionless followers of Jesus make him sick to his stomach.
17 Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, 18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.
Three Paradoxes:
You have riches, but you are poor.
You have clothes, but you are naked.
You have 20/20 vision, but you are blind.
You have riches, but you are poor.
You have clothes, but you are naked.
You have 20/20 vision, but you are blind.
Natural comfort can cause spiritual apathy.
“The opposite of love is not hate. It’s indifference. The opposite of success is not failure. It’s indifference. The opposite of life is not death. It’s indifference.” – Elie Wiesel

19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
Zeal: focused desire
21 He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. 22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”

How to regain your passion!
Prayer Requests:
Group Discussion: What does passion for Jesus look like in your life?
Read Aloud: Revelation 3:14-22
1. v.15-16 “15 ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.” What does lukewarm mean here? Do you agree with the statement, “Passionless followers of Jesus make him sick to his stomach?” Why or why not?
2. v.17-18 “17 Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, 18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. “How can natural comfort cause spiritual apathy? Read Matt. 6:19-21. How does this correlate with what Jesus is speaking to this church?
3. Three Paradoxes: You have riches, but you are poor. You have clothes, but you are naked. You have 20/20 vision, but you are blind. Do you see these three paradoxes in today's culture? How do we help a comfortable society become aware of spiritual bankruptcy?
4. v.19-20 “19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.” Jesus tells the church to be zealous. Zeal is a focused desire. The church was indifferent towards Jesus. What do you think about this quote from Elie Wiesel, “The opposite of love is not hate. It’s indifference. The opposite of success is not failure. It’s indifference. The opposite of life is not death. It’s indifference.” Can you relate? What areas in your life have you been indifferent or apathetic? How can you regain your zeal/passion again?
