INTRO: Before Crossing into Kingdom Promise.
1. Get a word.
2. Believe the Word.
3. Understand God's promises can be conditional.
Analysis and Application: Crossing into Kingdom Promise and Flourishing.
1. Fear God
12 “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God.
17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. 18 He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing. 19 Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. 20 You shall fear the Lord your God. You shall serve him and hold fast to him, and by his name you shall swear. 21 He is your praise. He is your God, who has done for you these great and terrifying things that your eyes have seen. Vs. 12; 17-21.
Benefits of Fearing God
1. Fearing God helps us obey his commands.
2. Fearing God helps us with sanctification.
3. Fearing God helps our worship of Him.
4. Fearing God brings about rewards.
5. Fearing the Lord brings confidence and comfort.
2. Love the Lord with your Whole Heart.
to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Vs 12.
3. Follow His Commands.
13 and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good? Vs. 13
a. Remove Idols
Deuteronomy 7:2-5 - and when the Lord your God gives them over to you, and you defeat them, then you must devote them to complete destruction.[ You shall make no covenant with them and show no mercy to them. 3 You shall not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons, 4 for they would turn away your sons from following me, to serve other gods. Then the anger of the Lord would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly. 5 But thus shall you deal with them: you shall break down their altars and dash in pieces their pillars and chop down their Asherim and burn their carved images with fire.
