Author: 1 Peter 1:1 “This letter is from Peter…”

Date of writing: 62-64 AD

Theme Passage: 1 Peter 2:11-12
1 Peter 2:11-12 //
11 Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. 12 Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.

1 Peter 1:1 //
I am writing to God’s chosen people who are living as foreigners…
Do you standout?

1 Peter 5:13 //
Your sister church here in Babylon sends you greetings…

What does it look like to live as foreigners in a strange world?

1 Peter 1:3 //
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead.
1 Peter reminds us…
· What we believe.
· Where we belong.
· How we should behave.

1 Peter 2:9-10 //
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

1 Peter 3:15 //
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.
1 Peter 1:15-16 //
But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

1 Peter 2:11-12 //
Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. a “way of life”; not just isolated acts of behavior; active kindness

1 Peter 3:8-9 //
Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.
1 Peter 5:5-6 //
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”So, humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.

1 Peter 5:8-9 //
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
1 Peter 5:10-11 //
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
