The Truth Is, We Can Disagree and Still Be United

Focus Points
Three directives for maintaining both biblical truth and practical Christian unity:
1. As Christians, we must be certain of and unified in the essentials. (v. 4-6)
2. As Christians, we must give grace in and allow room for disagreement in non-essentials. (v. 1-3)
3. As Christians, we don’t have to completely agree with other believers to cooperate with them in the Great Commission. (v. 7-16)
Response Questions
1. How do we distinguish between what are considered essential Christian beliefs and non-essential Christian beliefs?
2. Do you think God is okay with there being different Christian denominations?
3. Is it okay to debate differing opinions on biblical issues? If so, how could it be done without dishonoring Jesus or His Gospel?
4. With other denominations in disagreement with us on non-essential but seemingly important beliefs, how can we cooperate with them without compromising our own convictions?
5. How will you seek opportunities to cooperate with other believers in spreading the Gospel this week?
