What is the FRUIT of our CHRISTIANITY?

1. What Kind of LIFE Leads to Heaven?
2. Review: The WORKS of the Flesh (vs 19-21)

3. The FRUIT of the SPIRIT (vs 22-23)

A. Fruit of the Spirit: LOVE

Definition: Greek Words to Define Love
1) Philautia: self-love—has the potential to become excessive, narcissistic and selfish!
2) Mania: obsessive, possessive, addictive and dependent
3) Philia or Phileo: friendship
4) Eros: sexual or erotic
5) Agape: unconditional, divine, selfless—This is a Godly love that could be described as lavish, underserving, unreciprocated, unending, generous, self-sacrificing and not a temporary feeling, emotion, attraction or self-love.
AGAPE love is the God kind of love.

B. Fruit of the Spirit: JOY
Definition: Christian joy is a feeling of good pleasure and happiness that is dependent on who Jesus is rather than on who we are or what is happening around us. Joy comes from the Holy Spirit, abiding in God’s presence and from hope in His Word.
C. Fruit of the Spirit: PEACE

Definition: Peace is defined as a blessing from God and harmonious with His character because we’re in right standing with Him.

D. Fruit of the Spirit: PATIENCE

Definition: Patience is also translated long-suffering. Why would we want that? Because in this world we will have trouble. But God will use afflictions to shape and train us for all that He has for us.
E. Fruit of the Spirit: KINDNESS

Definition: Kindness is a supernaturally generous orientation of our hearts toward other people, even when they don’t deserve it and don’t love us in return.

F. Fruit of the Spirit: GOODNESS

Definition: Goodness is virtue and holiness in action. It results in a life characterized by deeds motivated by righteousness and a desire to be a blessing. It’s a moral characteristic of a Spirit-filled person
G. Fruit of the Spirit: FAITHFULNESS

Definition: To be faithful is to be reliable, steadfast and unwavering.

H. Fruit of the Spirit: GENTLENESS

Definition: Gentleness is a mildness of temper, softness or tenderness, freedom from roughness, soothing.

I. Fruit of the Spirit: SELF-CONTROL

Definition: Self-Control is about being sober-minded, tempered and sensible with a Godly consideration.

Self-control is not willing ourselves to be obedient and avoid sinful practices. We need a lot of help in fighting the three-fold enemy of the Devil, the world, and the flesh and we can’t do this by ourselves.
The power of the Fruit of the Spirit has a SNOWBALLING result. God is PRODUCING the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives which are the nine things mentioned.

But Paul is saying more than the law does NOT forbid these things. Paul is saying to the Galatians: “You who are trying to live by the law, guess what? The law is not against these things, but the law cannot produce them.”
4. The Changed Status: We Live by the Spirit, the FLESH is CRUCIFIED (vs 24-25)

5. The Final Exhortation: Walk by the Spirit in COMMUNITY (vs 25-26)
