- Have I allowed myself to be seduced by her?
- What does she offer me that threatens to entice me away from Christ?
- Are there areas in which I've compromised or made accommodation?
- Have I been too afraid of losing my job or losing customers or losing friends if I refuse to make the compromises the world applauds?
- Have I become so attached to certain luxuries that I would resent God for taking them away?
- Have some of the pleasures of life in this world, the enjoyment of things like sports and entertainment and food, morphed into idols that have become too important to me so that I have little time left for the things of God?
- What ideas, images, and dreams of the world have become so much a part of my thinking and feeling and dreaming that I don't even recognize them as worldly?

Whenever we gather with fellow believers to come to the Lord's Table, we are, in a very real sense, coming away from Babylon. We're demonstrating our desire for our bridegroom, our longing for the greater feast that this feast points to. We're demonstrating that we don't expect that this world will ever satisfy us like Christ satisfies us. We believe what he said when he told us. that he is coming soon. And so we're talking about him, preparing for him, waiting for him.
