1. Meekness means trusting more in the GOODNESS of God more than the EVIL of man

-Who is he talking to? Those that didn’t repent, who witnessed who he was and chose to deny Him.
“Nothing discloses the real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power.” - Robert G. Ingersoll
2. Meekness is having POWER but waiting on the Lord’s PERMISSION to use it

3. True kindness is having the ability to OPPOSE someone whose path is heading them towards DESTRUCTION.
“We have gone from a culture that encouraged people to think humbly of themselves to a culture that encourage people to see themselves as the center of the universe.” - David Brooks
4. It is the BOUNDARIES you live by that create the FREEDOM you want

5. Self-control is not the result of WILL-POWER but Christ coming into full power in the human HEART
6. Self control means pursuing the IMPORTANT over the IMMEDIATE

Talk About It

Discussion Questions:
1. How would you define “meekness” and “temperance” in your own words? Did anything from the message surprise you with how we define them?
2. Have you ever been in a situation where you could have made a decision but chose to wait on the Lord’s direction? Describe that process.
3. How would you describe the difference between the freedom to do whatever we want and the freedom of self-control?

Next Step:
• Is there any area of life where you need to choose what is most important over what is immediate in your life? How can you better sacrifice now for a better future?
