Introduction
Do you know what hasn’t changed? God’s Love, God’s Word.
Matthew 9:9 As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.
Matthew 10:1,5,16
And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority.
5 These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
16 “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.”
And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority.

16 “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.”
He died for you—so you live for Him.
Matthew 10:24-25
Matthew 10:24-25
24 “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. 25 It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.

Matthew 10:26-33
26 “So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. 27 What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. 32 So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, 33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.

Live for Jesus: This is really talking about setting right priorities
Find True Life by Losing Your Life in Jesus.
Matthew 10: 38-39 38
And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Ephesians 1:17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
Jeremiah 29:13You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
GOD wants YOU to know Him better than you do!

WHERE WAS GOD?
Ephesians 1:19-22 His incomparably great power is for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything.
God rewards those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11.6)

Lose our life to find life.
Prayer Requests:
Group Discussion: What is the most valuable thing you have ever lost?
Read Aloud: Matthew 10:24-39
1. v.26 “Therefore do not fear them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.” Have you experienced a time where your character was challenged unfairly? How did the situation play out? When is our character tested the most?
2. v.28 “Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” What do you fear more, persecution or God? How are Christians persecuted in the 21st century?
3. v.32-33 “Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.” Do you agree that “Outward confession is merely inward reflection?” Why or why not?
4. v.38-39 “And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.” Do you associate your life as a disciple with the cross (death)? What did you let go of to follow Jesus? What does it mean to find life in Jesus?
