Mark 6: 30-44
The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.
Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them.
When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.
Mark 6:30-34
Compassion: “A deep inner gut response”
Q: How do you think Jesus feels toward you?
But he answered, “You give them something to eat.” V.37
CONTRAST:
Disciples: “Jesus, there’s a big need and we can’t do anything about it.”
Jesus: “There is a big need and you will take care of that need.”
***God can do a lot with your little***
***God desires to work through you to impact others around you***
That’s his Kingdom expanding on earth.
Q: When God nudges you to action, what’s your response going to be?
They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand. V.42-44
Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.” John 6:26
Jesus says:
“I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35
Q: What are you holding that you could be offering to God?
Q: What are you holding that keeps you from putting your faith and trust in Jesus?
