Jonah: We All Need a Little Help to Obey
Jonah 2:1-10

God works our deliverance out before we even pray. (Jonah 1:17)
The fish was already on His way before Jonah ever hit the water. (Romans 5:8)

God hears and answers our prayers when we are guilty. (Jonah 2:1-2)
Prayer is not about getting what you want. Prayer is about God getting what He wants out of you!

Sometimes God gives us exactly what we ask for so we’ll learn to ask for what He wants and knows is best. (Jonah 2:3-4; 1:12)
The loving discipline of the Father is a matter of life and death.
The death all of us need to die is the death of self and sin.
The life that all of us need is the light and life of Jesus Christ.

God is with us the entire way down to rock bottom. (Jonah 2:5-7)
God allows us to hit rock bottom so we stop lying to ourselves about what is going on in our lives.
It is never too late to cry out to the Lord. (Jonah 2:4,7)

We do not receive the mercy and grace of God until we believe, confess, and repent. (Jonah 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10)
We confess to God, the body of Christ, and the world.
Repentance takes place when God's presence and pleasure becomes more satisfying than our idols and sin and worth facing the consequences of our sin. (Col. 3:1-10)

Thanksgiving sets the thermostat for worship regardless of our condition. (Jonah 2:9)

We are stewards of the salvation that Christ has entrusted us with. (Jonah 2:9b-10)
Wherever He leads I’ll go.
