Our enemy never grows weary in tempting us, so we must always be alert and armed with God’s word. We see the devil tempted Jesus in three distinct ways: first, by tempting His flesh; second, by tempting His pride/ego; and third, by tempting His faith.
The devil is quick to tempt our ego because pride is the language he speaks. The only way to keep our pride in check is to understand we are not God.
Submitting to God is the key to resisting temptation because it’s rooted in humility. Humility is the path to surrendering all forms of pride and ego; God opposes the proud.
Our enemy is arrogant and entices us with a “deserving” spirit that is always starved for more. Pride and ego, apart from the Holy Spirit, are evil, demanding, and never satisfied.
We must remind our pride and ego what we truly deserve which is hell. Pride and ego always say you can save yourself, but in actuality, we know that we are ONLY saved by grace and faith in Jesus Christ!
