INTRO: The Fool is Full of SELF!
Self Centered.
And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ Vs 16-17
SelfGoverning
“Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. Vs 18
Self Assured
And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ 21 “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.” Vs 19-21
ANALYSIS/APPLICATION: The Foundation of kingdom Stewardship
1. The Meaning of Kingdom Stewardship
WORD POWER: Kingdom Stewardship- the divinely authorized responsibility for believes to faithfully oversee the protection and expansion of the assets (time, talent and treasures) God has entrusted in them to manage on His behalf.
“You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.”Rev 4:11
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,4
What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit[a] him?5 For You have made him a little lower than [b]the angels,And You have crowned him with glory and honor.6
You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet,7 All sheep and oxen—Even the beasts of the field,8 The birds of the air,And the fish of the sea That pass through the paths of the seas. Psalm 8:3-8
2. The Mindset of Kingdom Stewardship.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 2 Cor 5:10
Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 1 Cor 3:12-15
3. The Motivation of Kingdom Stewardship
Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, 16 and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son— 17 blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. 18 In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.” Genesis 22:15-18
But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. 2 Cor 9:6-10
