Romans 12:15 says, "Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep." Take a moment to let us know how we can rejoice with you or bring a need before God with you.

Matthew 13:1-3a
“1That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. 2And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat down. And the whole crowd stood on the beach. 3And he told them many things in parables”

Matthew 7:28-29
"28 And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, 29 for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.

Mark 4:33-34 "33 With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it. 34 He did not speak to them without a parable, but privately to his own disciples he explained everything."
Matthew 13:31-32 "31He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. 32It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”
The focus = The Kingdom of Heaven (aka the Kingdom of God)
The Kingdom of Heaven Jesus described was not what they expected.
This parable should bring excitement and comfort as a revelation of God's plan.
Our role is to allow the Kingdom of Heaven to be active both in and through us.
Discussion Questions:
1) Why is a mustard seed like the kingdom of heaven?
2) What are we to learn from a small seed becoming a large tree and what does it have to do with us?
3) How did the mustard seed grow/mature?
4) What do the birds receive from the tree?
5) How does the kingdom of heaven become evident to others?
6) Can you think of an example in our cultural context to describe the kingdom of heaven?
7)How can you apply this parable today?
