Introduction
Colossians 4:2-6 NASB
2 Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;
Continue in persistent prayer.
(Relationship with God)

Prayer is our first response, not a last resort.
Prayer is a disposition, not a destination.
3 praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; 4 that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.

Continue pursuing Kingdom Partnerships. (Relationship with God’s family)

Paul placed a high value on relationships
(Col 4:7-17)
5 Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.
Opportunity - kairos - an appointed time.
Grace seasoned with salt.
Continue inviting others in.

Prayer Requests:

Group Discussion: Who has had the most profound effect on your life? Why?

Read Aloud: Colossians 4:2-18

1. v.2 “Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;” Does prayer come naturally to us? Why or why not? Why does Paul encourage us to devote ourselves and be persistent in prayer? Have you thought about the difference between time-based vs. event-based cultures?

2. v.3-4 “praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; 4 that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.” Do you spend your time praying for missionaries or mission organizations? If so, who? Say a prayer as a group for those missionaries.

3. v.5-6 “Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.” How do we make the most of our Kairos, appointed time? How does speaking the truth with grace help build God’s Kingdom? Share an example. Who can you invite to GateWay?

4. Read v.7-18, Why does Paul mention those in this list? If you were to make a similar list who would be on it? What role have relationships with others played in your life?
