Purpose of the Plagues

The end goal was to release God's chosen people, the Israelites, from their enslavement to the Egyptians - but another purpose was to reveal and prove Himself to Pharaoh and all of the Egyptians that He is indeed Lord - the self-existent, self-sufficient God.
Plague #1: Nile River turned to Blood

This had several ramifications. For starters, the Egyptians depended on the mighty Nile for all of their water needs. Well water in that region was often contaminated. And so the Nile provided water for not just drinking, but also for bathing, cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Additionally, the Nile was a major resource for food, not just because of the fish it contained, but also because it provided fertile soil, in and around that region that was ideal for growing crops like beans, wheat, and flax, which could easily be stored and eaten or traded. Finally, the Nile was a great economic resource for the country, as it served as a water highway for ships to transport goods for import and export.
An Extra Purpose for the Plagues

God sends this first plague against the Nile River in order to absolutely crush the so called power of the god Hapi, all so that He could expose to both the Egyptians and the Israelites how they were trusting in something for fullness of life that was not capable, and therefore could never bring about the fullness of life they so badly desired.
Christ is the Door

Knowing Christ is a life that is marked by having a relationship with God, whereby instead of being an enemy of his, we become a child of his, in which… We have access to our Heavenly Father anytime, anywhere. We have been set free from the power and penalty of sin in our lives. We have the Holy Spirit of God living within us and helping us to produce life changing fruit.
Plague #2: Frogs

Out of the Nile came thousands upon thousands of frogs, and they made a bee-line right to people’s homes, where they got into bedrooms and into people’s beds, they got into kitchens and into the cupboards and ovens. Knowing that He had to prove Himself superior from all the other gods that Pharaoh and the Egyptians worshiped, and knowing that He had to remind the Israelites concerning how He was in fact the Great I Am, God chose to send frogs in order to take on another one of the popular gods of the land.It was the god Heqet who actually had the head of a frog, and who was believed to be the one responsible for fruitfulness and materialism. And so, as to almost mock this so-called frog-headed god, the real God allowed the frog population to become very fruitful in a very short period of time.
