Relevant Scripture: Genesis 22:1-14

Once again, we see the requirement to die to self.

When God called – “Here I am”

God required Abraham to do something that didn’t make sense.

This had a serious one-time application – it wasn’t just for Abraham, but also for every person who would read the Bible.

God had already promised that Isaac would be the seed of a nation.

“It is neither your business nor mine to fulfill God’s promise…”

Note: Abraham immediately answered the call.

Abraham taught his son to be obedient to God.

Abraham confirmed God’s promise to those around him.

Note reference in Hebrews 11:19:

Abraham knew that it was absolutely impossible for God to break His own promise.

Abraham tells Isaac that God will provide.

God honored Abraham AND Isaac’s obedience.

God provided the ultimate sacrifice.

Note: Abraham did not withhold his ONLY son.

It is not coincidental that it was written: “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”


When has God called us to obey under what may seem impossible odds?


Do we have the faith required to see God deliver on His promise to provide what we NEED?
