Introduction
The family unit is the most basic and essential structure created by God to exemplify the way in which all mankind should live in His peace and His harmony.
Colossians 3:18-21 NASB
18 Wives, be subject to your husbands as is fitting in the Lord. 19Husbands, love your wives, and do not be embittered against them. 20Children, be obedient to your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord. 21Fathers, do not exasperate your children, that they may not lose heart.

Three ideas to consider:
1. Make family dinners together a priority. Ask questions. Pull out your Bibles.
2. Model the importance of apology, forgiveness, peace, and restoration.
3. Praise your spouse in front of your children. Model unfailing love, respect, admiration, and adoration for your spouse.
4. Bonus: Men, join us at the Huddle next season for strategies that will strengthen you and your families, including,
· How do I share my faith?
· What does a Godly man, husband, father look like?
· Why should I have a quiet time with the Lord? Why should I pray?
· How can I glorify God at my job?
· Why should I be involved in the life of the church?

Group Discussion: What are the characteristics of a family that fully follows Jesus?
Read Aloud Colossians 3:18-21
1. 18 Wives, be subject to your husbands as is fitting in the Lord. The word subject denotes a ranking of priorities or assuming a role. Why do you think God designed the family this way? Why do you think wives might have a hard time following the leadership of their husbands?
2. 19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be embittered against them. See also Ephesians 5:25. How are men commanded to love their wives? Why is this so difficult for some men? What does it look like to lead sacrificially?
3. 20 Children, be obedient to your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord. See also Ephesians 6: 1-3. Do your children know why obedience is important? Have you been successful in communicating the importance of obedience?
4. 21 Fathers, do not exasperate your children, that they may not lose heart. See also Ephesians 6:4. How do you model obedience? What are the memories your children have about how you as a husband/wife treat your spouse? What do you think of the statement, “more is caught than taught”?
What are at least two specific practices you can put into place to strengthen your family?
