Momento Mori – Remember Your Death

Becoming A Legend Or Leaving A Legacy?

A Legend asks the following:

A legend focuses inwardly: "What great things can I achieve? What do I need to do to make it happen?" Outwardly, they ask, Who is standing in the way of my greatness?" They look upward and say, "God, please make me great."

In contrast, a legacy is a piece of yourself that other people carry with

Ask yourself: when the people closest to me look back on my life, what will they remember and repeat?

As Christ-followers, our legacy, or what we pass on, should be based on our knowledge of and and relationship with Jesus.

The Legacy You Will Leave One Day Is The Life That You Are Living Today.

Billy Graham once said, “The greatest legacy one can pass on to one’s children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one’s life, but rather a legacy of character and faith.”

What Legacy Are You Leaving Behind?

What The Bible Says About Legacy:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (NIV)

Three Ways To Leave A Legacy Of Faith:

1. Love God With Everything You Have.

When we love God it influences our behaviors. Our behaviors will impact those around us.

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your Godwith all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ Matthew 22:37 (NIV)

What Drives your Life? Is it God?

This verse outlines three ways to Love God with all we have:

Love With All Your Heart
Love With All Your Soul
Love With All Your Mind

2. Teach Others By Living Out God’s Truth

Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:7 (NIV)

If you love me, keep my commands…..Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” John 15:15,21(NIV)

Impress These Truths On Others.

Practical Ways To Teach And Live Out God’s Truth:

Daily Conversations
Create Faith Traditions
Model Faithful Living
Encourage Questions And Exploration
Overcoming Busyness

3. Acknowledge The Work Of God In Your Lives

Don’t Forget God!

We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands. Psalms 78:4-7 ((NIV)

One generation commends your works to another;they tell of your mighty acts.
Ps 145:4 (NIV)

Declare All God Is Doing In Your Life.
