The Great Tribulation: When all Hell Breaks Loose
Series: Understanding the Times Sermon: The Great Tribulation: When All Hell Breaks Loose Daniel chapter 9 contains one of the most remarkable prophecies in the Bible. In it, God downloads to Daniel the things to come before the greatest day in history; the return of Christ! Before that, the Antichrist will be hailed as a hero because he has brought peace to the Middle East. Halfway into the 7 year Tribulation, the Antichrist flips the script and plunges the world into its darkest hour. Knowing these things in advance gives us hope, sharpens our faith and encourages us to warn others. Daniel 9:27 And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week,[g] and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.” ESV

What we know is coming tomorrow should prepare us for today
Jeremiah 30:7 Alas! That day is so great there is none like it; it is a time of distress for Jacob; yet he shall be saved out of it.
Daniel 9:27 And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week,[a] and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”
Matthew 24: 15 “So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
"The issue today is not the size of the land of Israel, the issue is Israel's existence. They can't get shrunk down small enough for their enemies to accept…”from the river to the sea”, that's the call for genocide they don't want a place for Israel to exist." Mark Hitchcock
At the mid-point of the great tribulation, God will turn the tide against Satan — first in heaven, then on earth. A battle will take place that will deny Satan access to heaven.
a. “The title ‘Devil’ is from the Greek diabolos, from the verb diaballo, which has the meaning of ‘defaming’ or ‘slandering.’ He is the master accuser of the brethren.” Walvoord
b. Satan only drew 1/3 of the stars of heaven, it means that 2/3 of the angels remained faithful to God. It’s comforting to know that faithful angels outnumber fallen angels two to one
1. The Blood of Jesus overcomes Satan’s accusations.
Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace
2. The Word of their Testimony
There is power in our testimony because it reinforces not what someone else says about our Lord but what we know to be true by experience!
3. “for they loved not their lives even unto death”
If my main goal is not self-preservation, rather to bring honor and glory to God, then there really is no threat Satan can bring against me.
