This week, we are kicking off a brand new series we are calling, "As If". Over the next 3 weeks, we will discuss what it truly means to live "for Jesus".
Ice Breaker: What if we did everything "As-If" it were for Jesus?
The term "Christian" literally means "follower of Christ". Pastor Jonathan said "calling yourself a Christian, means attaching your name to His and His name to yours". Why is this such an important reminder and how does this impact our choices and our actions?
Read Colossians 3:17 (NIV). Paul was writing to 1st Century Christians and reminding them that they needed to center their lives around following Jesus. He knew that they needed to refocus and recalibrate. How do the words of Paul still apply to us two thousand years later? Where do we need to refocus and recalibrate?
Pastor Jonathan shared 2 truths with us: "Live your life As-If it is all for Him" and "Live your life As-If it's all to Him". How can we use these 2 truths as filters to help us recognize and avoid "Sin" as we journey through life?
Take some quiet time and pray. As you pray, reflect on the final question Pastor Jonathan asked: "How should I _________ As-IF it is for Jesus or to Jesus?" What areas of your life do you need to filter through this question?
