Today is our Summer Celebration & Picnic!!
Remember that everyone is invited to join us behind the church after service today. We will grill hamburgers and hotdogs, do face painting, and have a huge bounce house!!

Summer Bible Verse Challenge
It's summer challenge time in Ignite and Spark! Last summer, we memorized the books of the Bible. This summer, we aim to memorize a portion of scripture together. Philippians 4:4-9 is a reminder to us all to focus on the goodness of God. Actually, we are to rejoice in Him and what he has done! The world around us seems chaotic and pulls at us from many angles. We want our children to know that God provides the peace we need when we practice Christ's example: rejoice in our Father, have a relationship with him, and love the things God loves. Handouts to practice will be given out to kids and parents beginning today. We will partner with you to practice these verses in class on Sundays, but the imprint begins at home. Thank you for working on these verses this summer. Also, mark your calendars for Sunday, August 11th. We will unite as a whole group to present our verses to the church body and celebrate with a special ice cream social!!

Promotion Sunday - June 9th
Next Sunday is Promotion Sunday, and we are excited to make this transition to better serve our kids! Please refer to the handout or the app for classroom details and grades/ages. The handout can be picked up at the kid's check-in counter. Moving to a new class can be both intimidating and exciting. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact one of the Ignite volunteers or church staff.

Baby/Child Dedications - June 16th
Parents, if your baby/child has not been dedicated, please sign up as soon as possible. SonLight will be having Baby/Child Dedications on Sunday, June 16th. Child dedication is a time when parents can display their commitment to raising their child/children to know and love Jesus Christ. But this is not just for the parents. As a church, we also get to share our commitment to lovingly supporting the family and the child through their growth and walk in faith. If you are interested in having a child dedicated, please get in touch with Pastor Tony or Pastor Aaron for more details and to set up a meeting date.

Forged Meeting - Wednesday, June 19th
Men, our next Forged meeting will be Wednesday, June 19th, in the church atrium from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. We are continuing through a six-part study of Romans by Max Lucado. We always share a meal and have fellowship time before our scripture time. You are encouraged to bring a friend and sign up at the Forged Table to bring something to share. This month, we are grilling 1/4 lb all beef hotdogs on the Blackstone for coney dogs/chili dogs, etc.

Baptism Sunday
On Sunday, April 28th, our church family celebrated three lives transformed by God's grace and love. SonLight will schedule Baptisms again on Sunday, June 23rd. If you want to talk more about that, please get in touch with Pastor Tony.

We need Groundwork Volunteers for the Summer
If you enjoy landscaping and mowing and have been looking for a place to volunteer at church, sign up for a day/weekend/week that you can dedicate to helping keep up with our beautiful church grounds! Teens, need something to do this summer? We need your help, too! You can find a calendar at the Connection Center and contact Pat Beard for more details.

Current Spark (5th-7th graders) and FUSE Families: Plan to meet on Sunday, June 9th, from 6:30-8 p.m. for FUSE Youth Group. We will have ice cream to welcome everyone and get to know one another! Please contact Pastor Aaron if you have any questions.


Ignite Children’s Ministry
Children entering Pre-K/Kindergarten (3 – 6 yrs) will be together in the “Little Kids” room. (The first door on the right in the children’s hallway.)

Students who have completed Kindergarten will advance to the 1st—3rd-grade class in the room at the end of the children’s hallway—the “Big Kids” room.

Spark
Students entering 4th—5th grade will be welcomed to "Spark" and start meeting in the FUSE box (located behind the children’s hallway; students will use the double doors in the Atrium to access the FUSE box).

FUSE Youth Group
Students entering 6th–12th grades will attend regular service and meet on Sunday evenings from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in the FUSE box. (Students will access the FUSE box through the North entrance and wooden deck ramp.)

Great things begin with prayer.

Acts 1:14 says the followers of Jesus “joined together constantly in prayer.” Soon after, those same followers received the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost and preached the Gospel boldly, adding thousands to their number in a short time.

In Acts 4:31, when the believers prayed, “the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”

The church fasted and prayed before sending Paul and Barnabas on their first missionary journey (Acts 13:3), which began the process of taking the Gospel “to the ends of the earth.”

A new chapter begins at SonLight Community Church, including a new vision, mission, values, and strategic plan (see below). But plans go nowhere if God is not in them (Proverbs 19:21). We must continue to pray to seek His will and His blessing.

Pray together for the future of our church as we look forward to God doing great things.

Strategic Planning: Thank you to everyone who participated in the sessions with E2 Effective Elders on May 14 and 15 to develop a three-year strategic plan for SonLight Community Church. Teams are beginning to meet to determine the next steps. You’ll hear and see more about the strategic plan as we head into the fall.

Young Families: Our young families group has some exciting ideas to connect with new people attending our church. Please pray for them as they implement these new plans. We are blessed by their enthusiasm!

The Vine: Please pray for The Vine and its leadership as they seek the financial resources needed to sustain their ministry.
