Chapters 4-6 = Our Story

Today’s Key Passage:
Ephesians 3:20

Theme:
Help During Tough Times
Ephesians 3:20 (NLT) – “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.”

Ephesians 3:20 (MSG) – God can do anything, you know – far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, His Spirit deeply and gently within us.
When going through a tough time:
1) Don’t do life alone.

Proverbs 29:19 – (GN) – A mirror reflects a man’s face but what he is really like is shown by the kind of friends he chooses.

Take Some Inventory:
Nurture those important relationships.
Restore some broken relationships.
Sever harmful relationships.
Initiate some meaningful relationships.

Hebrews 3:13 - But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
When going through a tough time:
1) Don’t do life alone.
2) Each day remember and surrender.

“God is too good to be unkind and He is too
wise to be mistaken. And when we cannot
trace His hand, we must trust His heart.”
- Charles Spurgeon
Mark 4:35 - As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.”

What you go through next is
preparing you for your next.

What you go through next is
preparing you for your next.

What you’re going through now
you’ve already been prepared for.
When going through a tough time:
1) Don’t do life alone.
2) Each day remember and surrender.
3) Don’t play the devil’s game.

Your life isn’t changed in the doing.
Your life is changed in the thinking.

Ecclesiastes 10:2 (MSG) – Wise thinking leads to right living. Stupid thinking leads to wrong living.

Everything begins with a thought. What we think determines how we feel. Our thoughts will determine our destiny.
How To Change My Thinking
A) I need a plan to control my thoughts.

Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
How To Change My Thinking
A) I need a plan to control my thoughts.
B) I need a place to think my thoughts.

Isaiah 26:3 (NLT) – You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You!
How To Change My Thinking
A) I need a plan to control my thoughts.
B) I need a place to think my thoughts.
C) I need a power to fuel my thoughts.

Ephesians 3:20(NLT) – “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.”
When going through a tough time:
1) Don’t do life alone.
2) Each day remember and surrender.
3) Don’t play the devil’s game.
4) Rarely is it ever just about you.

Romans 8:28 - “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

“Isn’t this just like Jesus. Curt, you see we didn’t have to play the game. He already knew the score. All we had to do was put our faith into action and believe.
- M. Wayne Blackburn (my pastor)

Ephesians 3:20(NLT) – “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.”
