Mother's Day
FELLOWSHIP = Koinonia
John 1:3
Pastor Adam Parmenter
Koinonia: Sharing a bond with Jesus Christ and living it together.
ā€¢ A common bond (i.e. body)
ā€¢ Participation in Christ
ā€¢ Sharing in community
A fellowship shares
ā€¢ Identity
ā€¢ Values
ā€¢ Behavior
Other kinds of fellowship groups:
ā€¢ Motorcycle club
ā€¢ Law enforcement
ā€¢ Family
Notice that John uses family words throughout this letter
ā€¢ God is Father.
ā€¢ Jesus is Son
ā€¢ My little children (2:1)
ā€¢ Beloved
The word Lord is not used in I John
Abide is another word, that ties back to fellowship. Abide = to continue in a place. Remain. Wait for.
We are living in Christ. Representing Christ because we abide in Him.
Anything we bring into our own lives, we bring into our fellowship. Whether good or bad.
I John 1:5 / LIGHT = Truth, knowledge, purity
Our bond of fellowship is with God and His son Jesus Christ. Itā€™s where we live.
ā€¢ Itā€™s who gives us our identity, our values, and guides our behavior.
John 2:1 / FAMILY
ā€¢ A close-knit family knows each other and tends to share values. (I John 2:3)
ā€¢ A close-knit family values each other (I John 2:1-2)
If my life is in Christ I will follow in his footsteps. (I John 2:6)

Flower Bed Maintenance Needed

Spring is finally here and we need help maintaining the churchā€™s flowerbeds. If you're willing to adopt-a-flower bed for the summer, please contact the church office or feel free to stop by the church at your convenience and pull weeds from whatever flowerbed catches your eye. If you contact us in advance, we can arrange for the shed to be open so you can get tools; otherwise feel free to bring your own.

Attention Graduates

As we prepare to recognize our college and high school graduates this year, we want to be sure that we donā€™t miss anybody. If you will be graduating, please contact the church office no later than Sunday, May 26. Also, if you let us know when your graduation open house is, we would be more than happy to publish it in upcoming bulletins. We are planning to recognize our graduates during the morning worship service on Sunday, June 2. For questions or more info, contact Kim in the office.

Have You Considered?

Did you know that if your bank offers online services, you can set your tithe up as a regular ā€˜bill paymentā€™ through your bank? This is a convenient option to help with continuity in giving and the ability for you to tithe even when you are on vacation or miss church. It eliminates having to wonder if you turned in your offering while you were gone! If you have questions or would like more information about how to utilize this convenient option, check with your banking institution or contact the church office.

Pop Cans = Scholarships

Donā€™t forget that your beverage can & bottle donations are used to fund teen scholarships for youth retreats, summer camps, special activities, etc. Please bring your recyclable items to the church anytime!
