Youth Group

Gatherings: Students in grades 6-12 are invited to join us on Wednesday evenings throughout the semester for a time of snacks, getting to know other students, Bible study, and small group. We meet from 6:30-8:00pm each Wednesday in the Life Center. Doors open at 6pm each week for those who would like to arrive early. Contact Pastor Kristin or Pastor Chuck with questions.

Youth Group Plus: All Middle and High School students are invited to join us on the 4th Sunday of every month for a night of community together. Tonight from 6:30-8:00pm we’ll be hanging out, playing games, and more. We recognize that not every student is available on Wednesday nights consistently, so these gatherings will be another great opportunity to come and have fun together and meet new friends.

Combined Book Club

Men and women, join us for our first ever combined book club hosed by Karie Ekenstedt! We will meet on Thursday, May 9 at 7:00pm, in the ECC Great Room, to discuss The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder by David Grann. The Wager is a grand tale of human behavior at the extremes told by one of our greatest nonfiction writers. Grann’s recreation of the hidden world on a British warship and his portrayal of the castaways’ desperate straits stands up to the classics of survival writing such as The Endurance, and his account of the court martial has the savvy of a Scott Turow thriller. As always with Grann’s work, the incredible twists of the narrative hold the reader spellbound. We hope you can join us for this thrilling book! More information below!

Children’s Ministry

Our nursery, preschool, and kindergarten children meet in the main building, down the hall from our worship space. You can check in for these classes at the west entrance table. Our 1st-5th grade students begin in worship with their families. Midway through our worship service, they are invited to a class in the Life Center building.

Serving Opportunities

So many people faithfully serve up front and behind the scenes every week here at ECC—and we are thankful! Finding a place to serve is an important way to support and engage our mission. If you are looking for a way to get more involved in the ministry and mission of ECC, you can let us know here. Here are a couple of the current areas looking for more people to serve: If you enjoy making outdoor areas look beautiful including our Rain Garden and Biblical Herb Garden, ECC has several landscaped areas that are maintained by ECC attenders, and we are looking for more volunteers. It is roughly a twice-a-month commitment to weed and maintain an adopted landscaped area. If you are interested in adopting one or more of these landscape areas, please email Pastor Kurt for more information or sign up on our Serve page.

The Story of Everything: The Beginning of the End
Fifth Sunday of Easter
Pastor Stacey Littlefield
Questions to ponder.
What has been your experience, if any, of the images and scenes covered in today's message (the six "scenes" in our passage)?
Questions to ponder.
Which scene in the reading gave you the most concern? Which most gave you hope? Why?

I. Return of Christ (19.11)
II. The Last Battle (19.17)
III. The Binding of Satan (20.1)
IV. The Thousand-Year Reign (20.4)
V. The Defeat of Gog and Magog (20.7)
VI. The Last Judgment (20.11)
VII. The Descent of the New Jerusalem (21.1)
Questions to ponder.
As you consider the various, most popular interpretations of "the millennium" (amillennialist, postmilleniallist, premillenialist), are any of these interpretations ones that were taught or presented to you in the past? If so, which ones and how were they taught? If this is completely new to you, consider the passage in the block below this one: how do each of the interpretations sound to you? What questions do you have of them?
The Millennium: Three Approaches
1. Amillennialists believe that these 1,000 years are not literal but symbolically refer to the time in between Christ’s first and second comings—the time in which we currently live.

2. Postmillennialists believe the 1,000 years are literal and that they refer to a time in which the good news of Jesus is preached freely because Satan is locked up, and more people can come to faith. Christ will return, then, at the end of this 1,000 years.

3. Premillennialists believe that Christ will return before the 1,000 years. Some believe that after a battle, Christ establishes his kingdom where Christians reign with Jesus over the world. Others believe there will be a rapture and a resurrection of the dead, who will then reign with Christ for the 1,000 years, and others will be “left behind” to suffer because of evil.

Fifth Sunday of Easter
Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
