Promises

Promises

Join us for the start of a new series called: Promises!  The God of the universe has made you some big promises. He made them first in the Old Testament, and they remain at the core of his heart and have never changed. They’re the key to your fulfillment and to his plans for you, both in this life and the life to come. God wants to rescue you from bondage. And he wants you to be a part of a family that is making a difference.  In the ancient celebration of Passover, we find a picture of God’s heart for us in the four cups of wine, representing each of the core promises. No matter where we are on our spiritual journey, these four cups of promise provide a simple, powerful, unforgettable way of reaching our potential and growing closer to God.   Join us starting Sunday, March 17th.

PROMISES
Part 6 – Make a Difference

(Exodus 6:6-7) Therefore, say to the Israelites: “I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.

The Un-Lived Life

(John 10:10 NIV) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

- We let our past cripple us.
(Psalm 38:4, 6) My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear... I am bowed down and brought low.

- We let culture define us.
(Galatians 1:10) Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

- We try to do it all alone.
(Ecclesiastes 4:8) There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his wealth.

The Promise to Make a Difference

(Exodus 6:7) I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God.

Isaiah 61:6 - but you shall be called the priests of the LORD;they shall speak of you as the ministers of our God; you shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory you shall boast.

1 Peter 2:9 – But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light

1. It begins with a calling.
(2 Timothy 1:9 NIV) He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,

I want to make a difference.

2. It stands on a cause.
(Acts 20:24 NLT) But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
Doing something that makes a difference.

3. It spreads from me to we.
(Ecclesiastes 4:9) Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.

With people who want to make a difference.
