RHYTHMS OF GRACE: PRAYER | WK 3 | "LISTENING TO GOD"

RHYTHMS OF GRACE: PRAYER | WK 3 | "LISTENING TO GOD"

RHYTHMS OF GRACE: PRAYER | WK 1 | "TALKING TO GOD" WK 1 - APRIL 7TH “Talking To God” WK 2 - APRIL 14TH “Talking With God” WK 3 - APRIL 21ST “Listening To God” WK 4 - APRIL 28TH “Being With God” WEEK 1 - "TALKING WITH GOD'" Join us this week as we continue our sermon series, Rhythms of Grace. In this installment, we focus on the spiritual discipline of prayer and its transformative power in our lives. Drawing from John 1:3-5, Ephesians 2:1-5, and 2 Corinthians 3:12-18, we will explore how prayer allows us to listen to God through Jesus Christ, who is the light and life of humanity. I hope to bring some hope to how our sins and trespasses are the primary barriers to experiencing the light and life of Jesus; how Christ's redemptive work enables us to overcome the obstacle of sin and darkness. Through prayer, we can approach God with honesty, embracing Jesus, the source of true life and understanding His love in new and powerful ways. Join in with us as we continue to study the practice of prayer and how it can illuminate our spiritual journey and deepen our relationship with God. Together, we can approach the  Lord and experience the power of His light in our lives and neighborhood. This session’s Practice will focus on the pragmatics of prayer. One of the single most important tasks of discipleship to Jesus is starting, habituating, and fine-tuning a daily prayer rhythm. Your daily prayer can be simple and brief. And as essential as sleeping, eating, and drinking. This is what will keep you praying in the days, months, and years to come. Ronald Rolheiser writes: “What clear, simple, and brief rituals provide is precisely prayer that depends upon something beyond our own energy. The rituals carry us, our tiredness, our lack of energy, our inattentiveness, our indifference, and even our occasional distaste. They keep us praying even when we are too tired to muster up our own energy.”

BOTTOM LINE
The goal of prayer is not to master a discipline.
It’s to find intimacy with Jesus.

Week 4 - Being with God

BUILDING ON WEEK 1 AND 2
PRAY WHAT YOU GOT!
FOLLOW JESUS’ RHYTHM and be WITH GOD.

“We ought to act with God in the greatest simplicity, speaking to Him frankly and plainly, and imploring His assistance in our affairs, just as they happen.”
—Brother Lawrence,

He also shared his thoughts regarding his rich communion with God,
“Those only can comprehend it who practice and experience it.”

LIFE FROM GOD uses him to supply our material desires.

LIFE OVER GOD : uses him as the source of principles and laws used as power to control others.

LIFE UNDER GOD : attempts to manipulate God through moral obedience to gain blessing and avoid trials.

LIFE FOR GOD: uses Him and His mission to gain a sense of direction, purpose and right standing.

“A prayer life with God is not intended to use God,
Its goal is God.”
One Point
JESUS IS LIFE.
MORAL SPIRITUALITY

REDEMPTIVE SPIRITUALITY
One Point
JESUS IS LIFE.
PRAYER IS THE ACCESS TO THE LIFE JESUS LONGS TO GIVE YOU.
