Worship is a look UP v. 1-4

Worship is a look IN v. 5-7

Worship is a look OUT v. 8
Why be involved in world evangelism?

The Lord commanded us to go.

“The goal of the church is not missions but worship. If we worship Christ, we’re going to do what he says.” -John Piper

“The great controlling factor is not the needs of people but the command of Jesus. The source of our inspiration is behind us, not ahead of us. Our goal is to be true to him, to carry out his plans.” -Oswald Chambers

We are concerned about lost people.

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? Romans 10:13-15a

We want to encourage those who are working in that field.
We want to grow as Christians
How can we be involved in world evangelism?

“In mission work the great danger is that God’s call will be replaced by the needs of people to the point that human sympathy for those needs will absolutely overwhelm the meaning of being sent by Jesus. The needs are so enormous and the conditions so difficult that we tend to forget that the one great reason underneath all missionary work is not primarily the elevation of the people, but it is first and foremost the command of Christ to make disciples of all nations.” -Oswald Chambers
Hope short term mission trips are called GO Trips
Life Group Questions from Sunday, 4-21-24

Remember, when we read the scriptures it's for life application and transformation, not just information.

OPEN:

Have you ever been on a short term mission trip? Tell your group about it.

Have you considered going on one of our GO Trips? Which one were/are you thinking about?

DIG:
To get your whole group involved, it might be a good idea to each person to read one verse.

Read Isaiah 6:1-8
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.3And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

1. Take some time looking In verses 1-4 and describe what Isaiah saw, heard and experienced.

2. In verse 5, what did Isaiah realize about the Lord and about himself?

3. In verses 6-7, how did God resolve his guilt and sin problem?

4. In verse 8, what is Isaiah's response to God's question?

5. In verse 3, we see the seraphs crying "Holy, Holy, Holy..." Holy means "set apart." Are people holy? Can they be holy? How is that possible?

6. How will you respond to the holiness of God?

7. Considering that the Lord says, "Be holy as I am holy." How does that work in our culture in 2024? Discuss the ways you have wrestled with this. (think movies, social media, modeling to children, etc)

REFLECT:

8. What is God calling you to?

Do you sense He is calling you to a next step?

9, What would be your biggest challenge on a Hope GO Trip?
