1. Because of what I read in the Old Testament. The God who never changes calls Himself the healer of His people. (Ex 15:26)

2. Because of what I read about Jesus. Nearly 1/5 of the entire Gospels is devoted to Jesus’ healing and the discussions occasioned by it. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever. (Heb 13:8)

3. Because of what I read about the Apostles. The ministry of Jesus was not to be a fading memory but an ongoing reality through the Apostles.

4. Because of what I read about the 70, and others in the Book of Acts and in the Epistles.

5. Because of what I read in church history after the first century.

6. Because God’s messengers still need to be authenticated. If Jesus needed to be authenticated by the works of God, how much more do we need it? And if the Living Word needed to be authenticated, how much more does the written Word?

7. Because Healing Miracles Open Doors for Evangelism (Acts 9:32-43). These miracles caused mass evangelism. If you are for evangelism, then you ought to be for healing.

8. Because it brings glory to God. (Jn 11:1ff) Why was Lazarus raised from the dead? To glorify God.

9. Because Jesus still has compassion for people

If Jesus isn’t healing anymore today, then what I want to know is where did the compassion go?

(Let’s look at a familiar passage and notice something that is missed by most.)

What did Jesus teach His disciples to do?

What did Jesus send out the 70 to do?

The ministry that Jesus taught His disciples to do was to be passed down to disciples throughout history, all the way to us.

If a church is going to have a healing ministry, there are some biblical requirements.

*God has so structured the realm of the Spirit that faith releases the power of God. *When there is no faith, miracles don’t occur.
