https://webcgreenville.org/permission/These questions are provided for your further study and application of today’s sermon. Thoughtfully writing out the answers to these questions will help to drive home the truths we are learning.
1. Was there any passage of scripture or statement in the message today that was particularly meaningful or applicable to you?
2. Read John 1:1-18. How does this passage connect with the account in John 2:1-11?
3. Mary’s response to Jesus in 2:5 reflects a trust in His ability to handle the situation. Discuss specific aspects of Jesus’ character that should cause us to trust Him in our own lives and difficulties.
4. Read Amos 9:13-14, Isaiah 25:6, and Jeremiah 31:12. These passages have wine as part of the imagery of God’s salvation at the end of the age. Why is this significant for Jesus’ miracle in John 2?
5. Ceremonial hand washing was one way the Jews attempted to remain pure before God. Think about your own life. What things do you do in an attempt to purify yourself before God? How does this perspective conflict with passages such as Hebrews 1:3 and 1 John 1:7, 2:1-2?
6. The disciples saw Jesus’ sign and believed, while others saw the many signs Jesus did but did not believe. What significance does this have for how we understand the function of Jesus’ signs? What does it say about us as human beings? (Consult John 2:23-25; 20:30-31)
Giving Online
Giving cheerfully and sacrificially of our finances is part of our worship. (2 Corinthians 9:7; Proverbs 3:9; Malachi 3:10) We thank those who have helped us fulfill our mission and vision, and we ask you to pray that all of the giving to West End Baptist Church would be used to glorify God in carrying out His will as Scripture instructs and the Holy Spirit leads.
