Fully Alive: Watch Your Mouth April 21, 2024 I Peter 3:8-12 I Peter 3:8-12 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. For, “Whoever would love life (Fully Alive) and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” Words impact how we act and react. Are the words I speak building people up or tearing them down? Do my words build up the body of Christ in a way that helps us be likeminded? I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit; Born of the Virgin Mary; Suffered under Pontius Pilate; Was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into Hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven; And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; The Holy Christian (Catholic or Universal) Church, the Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen. Are my words sympathetic? Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate... Peter winds up this verse with a call to humility. Psalm 19:12 But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression. May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. Try memorizing Psalm 19:14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. ..Individuals have walked away from their faith and away from a church because of unkind, unsympathetic and judgmental words spoken by well meaning yet condescending believers. Now let’s all go out and find someone to encourage with words of love and hope.
