Scripture: Psa 51:10; Gen 15:1b-2a, 5-6; Matt 28:16-20; 2 Cor 5:18-21; John 3:16; Rom 3:23; 5:8; John 1:12; 2 Cor 5:17; John 4:34, 35b-39a, 40-41
Job 15:14 Can any man be pure? Can anyone born of a woman (any human) be righteous?
Romans 3:10 as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one. 11 There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. 12 All have turned away; all alike have become useless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one.
Psalm 51:10 "Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me."
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are hose who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
1 John 1:8 If we say, "We have no sin," we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Genesis 15:6 Abram believed the LORD, and He credited it to him as righteousness.
Matthew 28:16 The 11 disciples traveled to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had directed them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped, but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came near and said to them, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
2 Corinthians 5:18 Everything is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed the message of reconciliation to us. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, certain that God is appealing through us. We plead on Christ's behalf, "Be reconciled to God." 21 He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
STEPS TO PEACE WITH GOD; THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS
1. RECOGNIZE GOD’S PLAN—PEACE AND LIFE
God loves you and wants you to experience His peace and life. The BIBLE says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
2. REALIZE OUR PROBLEM—SEPARATION FROM GOD
People choose to disobey God and go their own way. This results in separation from God. The BIBLE says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
3. RESPOND TO GOD’S REMEDY—THE CROSS OF CHRIST
God sent His Son to bridge the gap. Christ did this by paying the penalty of our sins when He died on the cross and rose from the grave. The BIBLE says, “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
4. RECEIVE GOD’S SON—LORD AND SAVIOR
You cross the bridge into God’s family when you ask Christ to come into your life. The BIBLE says, “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12
THE INVITATION IS TO: REPENT (turn from your sins), ASK for God’s forgiveness, and by faith RECEIVE Jesus Christ into your heart and life and follow Him in obedience as your Lord and Savior. When you make this commitment, you become a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and a part of His family (John 1:12).
PRAYER OF COMMITMENT: “Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I want to turn from my sins, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe He died for my sins and that You raised Him to life. I want Him to come into my heart and to take control of my life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord from this day forward. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”
John 4:34 "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work," Jesus told them. . . 35b Open your eyes and look at the fields, for they are ready for harvest. 36 The reaper is already receiving pay and gathering fruit for eternal life, so the sower and reaper can rejoice together. 37 For in this case the saying is true: 'One sows and another reaps.' 38 I sent you to reap what you didn't labor for; others have labored, and you have benefited from their labor." 39a Now many Samaritans from that town believed in Him because of what the woman said . . . (when she gave her testimony of Jesus). 40 Therefore, when the Samaritans came to Him, they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed there two days. 41 Many more believed because of what He said.
