Jesus calls us to self-examination before we lovingly confront anyone else

1. We are to guard against developing a critical spirit
… by choosing gratitude
… by believing the best in others
… by giving people the benefit of the doubt
… by resisting to react without the facts
… by making sure to listen to all sides
… by choosing grace and forgiveness when our judgment is right

2. We are to deal with our own sin first
… have I been sitting in judgment over someone?
… have I taken sides or shut someone out of my life without having all the facts?
… have I attempted to look at my own life and what needs to change?
… have I prayed about it and asked God to help remove the logs in my own eyes?
