What is Paul’s one request?

That they may KNOW GOD BETTER.

3 Aspects of Knowing God:

1. That you may know the HOPE to which
He has CALLED you.

Hope SURROUNDS us!

2. That you may know the RICHES of His glorious inheritance IN THE SAINTS.

WE are what God is looking forward enjoying MOST for all eternity!

WE are the riches of God’s glorious inheritance!

“I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened…”

We understand our BROKENNESS a lot better than we understand our BEAUTY.

We feel our PAIN a lot more powerfully than we feel God's PLEASURE in us.

We see our FAILURES a lot more clearly than we see what a TREASURE we are to God.

3. That you may know the INCOMPARABLY GREAT POWER FOR us who believe.

HOPE surrounds us.
RICHES IS us.
POWER is FOR us.

Where does the power come from? The heavenly realms
What kind of power is it? Divine power
How strong is this power? This is ultimate power -“far above”
To what degree is this power mine? If Jesus is the source of power, we are the embodiment of it!

What do you need God’s power for?

I need God’s power to accomplish what He’s called me to do.

I need God’s power to overcome things…
…like sin & temptation.
…like discouragement & fear.
…like hard things in life.
…like our spiritual enemy.

I need God’s power to remain in Christ to the end.

I need God’s power to keep growing spiritually.

I WANT TO KNOW GOD BETTER…

…to know the HOPE to which He has called me.

…to know the RICHES of His glorious inheritance in the saints.

…to know God’s incomparably great POWER for us who believe!

Choose one of the aspects Paul prays about in Ephesians 1:15-23 to ask God to fill up in me.

- That I may KNOW God better.

- That I may comprehend the HOPE that surrounds me (past, present, future).

- That I may recognize the RICHES of God’s inheritance (which is me AND all other believers).

- That I may experience the POWER of God in a way that fills me with the fullness of God.
