Carpeting and Parking Lot Maintenance
We are excited to be getting two large projects done this spring! Our parking lot has needed attention for quite some time and we will be getting the south side refinished and striped. The north side will be coated and striped. We will also be replacing the carpet in the foyer and McCormick Center. This includes basketball lines, volleyball lines, and yes, the three-point line. Several years ago the board directed that we set aside money in a fund for repairs and maintenance. Because of your generous giving over the years and careful management of these funds, we will be able to pay for these two projects in full.

Fully Alive: Bound To Be Free
Romans 6:15-23
April 14, 2024
What does it mean to be free?
Perfect freedom is never absolute freedom, but requires appropriate boundaries.
“You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”
Genesis 2:16-17
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!
Romans 6:15
Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—
Romans 6:16
Deuteronomy 15:12-17
If any of your people—Hebrew men or women—sell themselves to you and serve you six years, in the seventh year you must let them go free. And when you release them, do not send them away empty-handed. Supply them liberally from your flock, your threshing floor and your winepress. Give to them as the Lord your God has blessed you. Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you. That is why I give you this command today.
But if your servant says to you, “I do not want to leave you,” because he loves you and your family and is well off with you, then take an awl and push it through his earlobe into the door, and he will become your servant for life.
Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
Romans 6:16
But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance.
Romans 6:17
You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
Romans 6:18
I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations.
Romans 6:19
Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness.
Romans 6:19
When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!
Romans 6:20-21
But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
Romans 6:22
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
God desires us to be free from sin, bound to Christ, and fully alive.
