Experiencing Atonement
There are a few key verses in the book of Romans that have been used to communicate the good news of God’s kingdom for years. It is worth the time to hear them, understand them, and learn to communicate the message well. It turns out that good news travels.

Life Group Questions
There are many ways that the atonement is imaged throughout the New Testament.
Let’s take a look at three images right now.
1) Sacrifice/Holiness/Cleansing. Read 1 John 1:7-9. Why is it important that we are honest with ourselves about the problem of sin?
2) The metaphors seem mixed (or are they): What is the relationship between darkness/light and blood/cleansing?
3) What is it like to experience forgiveness and be purified?
4) Change in Loyalty. Read 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. How easy is it to believe that you have been bought at a price?
5) What relationship to God should we have because we have been bought at a price?
6) Redemption/Legal. Read 1 Peter 1:18-21. Many people underestimate the power of sin. These people do good things without Jesus. Is their life still “empty” as Peter suggests? Why or why not? How does the sacrifice of Jesus address the meaning of our lives?
7) What is the importance of Jesus’ blood being the purchase price vs. silver and gold?
8) Which of these three images do you think is most relatable to you? Which do you think would make sense to someone you love who is far from God? Pray for that person.
