1. Jesus is the Sovereign Savior who is in control. (vs. 1-2)
- Jesus is the fulfillment of the Passover. (v. 1)
--- Jesus is perfectly leading.
--- Jesus is the Perfect Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world in the valley of the shadow of death. (Psalm 23:4)
- Jesus is the redemption in the garden. (vs. 1-2)
--- Jesus reversed the curse (Eden). (Gen. 2:17, 3:6-7, 17-19; John 11:25-26)
--- Jesus was crushed for our iniquities (Gethsemane). (Isaiah 53:5-6, 10)
2. Jesus is the Almighty God who has power over all people. (vs. 3-11)
- The “I AM” knocks His enemies to the ground. (vs. 3-6, Psalm 27:1-2)
- The “I AM” shelters and protects His followers. (vs. 7-9; Psalm 46:1; 2 Thess. 3:3)
- The “I AM” heals and restores the wounded. (v. 10, Luke 22:51)
- The “I AM” calms the restless soul and gives purpose and mission. (v. 11, John 10:17-18)
3. Jesus is the Prince of Peace working redemption amidst corruption and sin. (vs. 12-18)
- While corrupt men were scheming, Jesus was redeeming. (vs. 12-14; Genesis 50:20)
- While close men were denying, Jesus was protecting them. (vs. 15-18)
One takeaway: Who and what am I seeking? (John 18:4-8; 1:38; Jeremiah 29:12-14)
