Resurrection (Anastasis)- a standing up again, restoration of life, literally Rising from the Dead!
But tell me this—since we preach that Christ rose from the dead, why are some of you saying there will be no resurrection of the dead? 13 For if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised either. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your faith is useless.1 Cor 15:12-15
ANALYSIS: THE 4 E’s, EVIDENCE OF RESURRECTION:
Early Reports:
I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Vs 3
Execution:
Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried. Vs 3-4
Empty Tomb:
He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. Vs 4
Eyewitnesses:
He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. 6 After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. 7 Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him…… Vs 6-8
APPLICATION: 4 Types of People
1. People who have Never Heard about Jesus and have not been “Born Again” through faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord, therefore they are Dead in their Sins.
2. People who have Heard about Jesus and have not been “Born Again” through faith in Jesus as their Savior and Lord, therefore they are Dead on their Sins.
3. People who have Heard about Jesus, maybe Gone to Church and done religious things, but have not been “Born Again” through faith in Jesus as their Savior and Lord, therefore they are Dead in their Sins.
4. People who have Heard about Jesus, who personally Know Jesus because they were Born Again, therefore their Sins have been forgiven and are forevermore Alive in Him!
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” John 3:16-17
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”John 3:1-3
