It is within man’s heart though to be in control. Rather than the creation serving the creator, left to our own agendas we envisage a Creator that serves the whims and desires of His creation.
False Arguments used for Biblically Affirming Same Sex Relationships

1. The type of same sex relationships common in ancient Roman culture.

Pederasty: An older powerful and wealthy male would have reactions with a younger man or boy often a slave. This would be a relationship marked by the dominance of the older man over the younger expressing power over the one who would be of a lowlier station in life.

Progressive Christians will argue that this is the type of relationship that Paul is describing here in Romans 1:26-27

An exploitative and abusive relationship that is being condemned, not a loving, consensual and monogamous relationship. (Polyamory)

3 Problems with this View:

#1 Historical Problem: Paul said women practiced these things too and there is no record of female to female pederasty.

#2 Linguistic Problem #1: (Language) Paul could have said pederasty.

#3 Linguistic Problem #2: Paul says men with men committing shameless acts, not men with boys. Men were consumed with passion for one another. Reciprocal not abusive.

2. A quasi scholarly approach misusing the greek word Arsenokoites (arse-in-a-coy-tie) in reference to same sex relationships. (False Teacher Brandon Robertson’s Claim)

Asren=Man + Koites=to bed

Septuagint (Greek Old Testament)
Leviticus 18:22 (ESV) You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.

Leviticus 20:13 (ESV) If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination.

The Levitical Laws have the purpose of calling Israel to not live like the other nations (Egypt/Canaan)

Brandon Roberston’s says God is telling them not to do as the other nations did.

What kind of same sex relations did these nations practice? He then leans back into the pederasty argument. He says that this is what is being condemned in the OT.

2nd part of this argument then says if Paul is referencing this condemnation than it must be about that nature of same sex relationship and not the loving committed and consensual kind of relationships.

3. Being true to the natural desires you have is being true to God as one’s Creator.

Romans 1:26-27 (ESV)
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another

Argument: Since you have these desires, God must have created you this way.

There are people who have all types of natural desires that we wouldn’t say were God given.
Paul understood that Genesis 2:24 and the understanding of marriage is the revelation of Jesus Christ and His marriage to US.

If this is true, then to participate in any other kind of marriage is a distortion of that message.

What Paul was describing in Romans 1:

-This was an act that stemmed out of the denial of who God really is (vs 21), not wanting to give glory to Him.

-This was an act that was based upon lust that dishonors their bodies (vs 24).

-This was an act that grew out of exchanging the truth for a lie (vs 25).

-This was an act that was described as against nature (vs 26).

-This was an act that was motivated out of burning lust (vs 27).

-This was an act that carries with it consequences, penalties that are earned (vs 27).

Could we then not say that homosexuality is a message of the selfishness of a society?
It’s easy to jump on sides and compare our sense of righteousness against someone else’s, but Paul speaks to all sins that stand in contrast to God’s perfect character.

What about men and women who fight homosexual urges?

Just because one has those urges does it make it right? NO

On the other hand, if someone has those urges does that make them unrighteous? NO

Urges have nothing to do with what is right.

Everyone has urges.

Just because those urges are there does not mean that you are sinful.

Paul says later in chapter 7 that the things he wanted to do he didn’t do and the things he didn’t want to do he did. He cries out, “who will deliver me from this body of death.”

We all like Paul wrestle with sin.

All sins stand in contrast to God’s perfect character
It’s when we stop wrestling that we have a problem:
There is an agenda that is fighting for the hearts of men.

Culturally Represented as : Clever, witty, life of the party, snappy dressers, best friend to ever have around.

Compassion for those in the LGBTIQ+ Community

Romans 1:27 (ESV)
"...men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error."

This should break our hearts.
LGBTIQ+ Statistics from the Department of Health's Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration:

-Half of LGBTIQ+ people had experienced depression, and three in five had
experienced anxiety

-One in eight LGBTIQ+ people aged 18 to 24 had attempted to end their life

-Almost half of trans people had thought about taking their life

-Lesbian, gay and bisexual adults are more likely than their straight counterparts to abuse substances and experience mental illness.

-Nearly 40 percent of those who identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual claimed to have used illicit drugs in the past year, compared to 17 percent of those who identify as straight.

-The rate of alcohol abuse in gay and transgender individuals may be as high as 25 percent compared to 5–10 percent in the general population.

-The use of tobacco products is significantly higher in gay individuals than in heterosexuals; some studies suggest 200 percent higher.

-Lesbian and bisexual females were more likely than straight females to have engaged in binge drinking in the past month, and about twice as likely to have engaged in heavy drinking in the past month.

-Gay and bisexual males and females were two to three times more likely than their straight counterparts to have used illicit drugs other than marijuana in the past year.

-Bisexual females were three times more likely than straight females to have had anopioid use disorder in the past year.

-Bisexual females were six times more likely to have attempted suicide in the past year than straight females.
Pastor Voddie Bauchum gave these stats concerning 10 randomly selected gay men in their 30’s.

-4 out of 10 are currently in a relationship, but only 1 is faithful to his partner. He will not be within a year.

-4 have never had a relationship that’s lasted more than a year. Only one has had a relationship that’s lasted more than 3 years.

-6 out of 10 are having relations regularly with strangers.

-The group averages almost 2 partners per person per month.

-3 take part in group activities.

-1 is a sadomastochist and 1 is a pedophile.

-3 are currently alcoholics, 5 have a history of alcohol abuse and 4 have history of drug abuse.

-5 regularly use at least one illegal drug.

-3 are multiple drug users.

-4 have a history of depression. 3 have seriously contemplated suicide and two have attempted suicide.

-8 of the ten have a history of STD’s, 8 currently carry infectious pathogens.

-3 are infected with HIV and one has experienced full blown AIDS.
Our children are being deceived by suppressors of truth.

Voddie said: "Is it a compassionate response to just close our eyes and accept this, or to say this is unnatural, it’s insatiable (consumed with passion) and it is devastating and destructive and Christ is your only hope."
It isn’t God’s hate that stands against sin, it’s God’s love.
