Paul's Love for the Church...

In Christian fellowship, distance does not diminish relationship!

When you love people, you earn the right to speak into their lives.

Get to know somebody before you rebuke them.
There is no motivational “gift of correction”!
Timothy (brother and God’s coworker in the gospel of Christ)

Co-Worker: “Originally the word denoted the service of a table waiter, and from that it came to signify lowly service of any kind. It was often used by the early Christians to give expression to the service that they habitually were to render to both God and to man. (Morris)
Paul sends Timothy:
DCAAT: "Doing Church as a Team"

1. To establish, strengthen, and exhort the believers in their faith
2. So that no one would be moved (shaken) by their afflictions

The ancient Greek word translated shaken, or moved came from the idea of a dog wagging its tail.

Without a good understanding of the place of suffering in the life of the believer, we are in great danger of being moved in our faith.
What was that message of encouragement?

You know that we are destined for this. For what? Suffering for the Gospel.
Paul recognized that the tempter, Satan, wanted to derail these believers in this season of suffering.

He reminds them that trials are not necessarily a sign of God's disfavor, but part of every Christian's legacy

Storms often come to believers to make us able to stand firm, rather than to blow us away!!
Was Paul concerned that they had lost their salvation?

1:4. "loved by God, that He has chosen you"

They could have ceased to walk by faith, not trusting God

Paul was concerned that. his labor might have been in vain, not that their faith had been in vain...
The Good Report--The Splash-Back Blessing
Calvin called faith and love: "the sum total of godliness. All who aim at this double mark are beyond the danger of error for the whole of their life."

Their faith brought comfort to Paul in his distress!
Paul was seriously praying to see them again. Face to Face.
The Result....
Our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus direct you our way

The compound subject of a singular verb...probably an indication of the unity of the Godhead. Thomas

1. He wanted to be with them in fellowship.
2. he wanted their love to abound.
3. He wanted their hearts established blameless in holiness.

@ the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints.

Nothing can encourage us to holiness like remembering that Jesus might return today!
1. let us remember the power of christian relationships...both in receiving
1. Let us remember the power of christian relationships...both in receiving encouragement from others and in extending it to others in their times of need. May we be like Timothy, willing to step forward and strengthen the faith of those around us. Join a Life Group

2. Let us stand firm in our faith ass we face trials and challenges, knowing that God is our anchor in the storms of life!

3. Live like Jesus is coming back today! Strive to live blamelessly and in holiness.
