Do you ever feel like you’re your own worst enemy?
Authenticity is one of our values.
If we try to fake our way through life and pretend we don’t have issues, we’re kidding ourselves. If we keep it real and get honest with ourselves, each other, and God–we will experience forgiveness, healing, and growth.
1 John 1:8-9 JPB
Sin includes attitudes, mindsets, habits, and actions that are harmful to our own well-being, and the well-being of others.
Sin is failing to love.
Self-destructive Behavior
Actions or patterns of behavior that harm oneself, whether physically, mentally, or emotionally. These actions may be intentional or the result of neglect and often undermine an individual's well-being, health, or happiness.
Three expressions of Self-Destructive Behavior
Sabotage
Substances
elf-Loathing.
Self-Sabotage is rooted in the deep-seated internal belief that we don't deserve success, happiness, or love.
Substance abuse is a paradox; the futile attempt to “heal” yourself by harming yourself.
Self-Destruction is...
• ... ultimately the symptom of much deeper issues.
• ... a misguided attempt to cope with pain, stress, fear, or the emptiness we feel inside.
• ... a way of numbing ourselves to the realities we don't want to face, or punishing ourselves because we incorrectly believe that we deserve pain.
Grace makes space for growth.
