1. Jesus confronts "Physical Israel" which is fading away [1-11]

1) Luke 6:1-5 - The Pharisees complain that the disciples picked grain on the Sabbath

2) Luke 6:6-11 - The Pharisees complain that Jesus heals on the Sabbath

2. Jesus is Lord over and fulfillment of the promises to "Physical Israel"[1-11]

3. Jesus is inaugurating "Spiritual Israel" with the 12 Apostles [12-19]

Q: What’s different now because we are part of the Church (Spiritual Israel) and not Physical Israel?

1. Belonging - Belong based on faith in Jesus’ blood, not by having Israelite blood

2. Definition - Defined as a spiritual kingdom, not national kingdom

3. Purpose - Seeking to reach all nations, not only Jews

4. Hope - The Church will triumph even though Israel has fallen
