Message: 3 Ways to Seek Healing From Trauma
Romans 8:28 (NIV) - And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him and have been called according to his purpose.
The Three Types of Trauma
1. Acute: a response from a one-time traumatic event
2. Chronic: a long-term response from prolonged or repeated events
3. Complex: a response to multiple and ongoing events
3 Ways to Seek Healing From Trauma
1. We process the pain of our trauma.
2 Corinthians 11:23-28 NIV
2 Corinthians 1:8 NIV
2. We prayerfully take our trauma to God
2 Corinthians 12:8 NIV
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NIV
Psalm 34:18 NIV
3. We pursue purpose in our trauma.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV
Romans 8:28 NIV
GROWTH GUIDE // PERSONAL REFLECTION
1. What are you thankful for today? What are you praising God about? How have you seen God’s goodness in your life?
2. On a scale of 1-10, how are you doing right now?
3. Which part of the message from Sunday was most impactful for you and why?
4. We can start healing from trauma by processing the pain with trusted people, praying it to God, and pursuing purpose in our pain. Which one stands out to you the most, and why?
5. Read 2 Corinthians 12:9-10. How could God’s grace change the way you view your situation?
6. “Getting over” a hurt is different than genuinely healing. Share about a time when you experienced healing. How did you lean into God during that healing?
7. Is there a trauma or hurt you need to process with trusted people? Consider sharing that hurt with your Growth Group to pray for healing together.
