2 Corinthians 4:16-18 “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
We are all a mess and broken.
Psalm 51:17 “My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, you, God, will not despise.”
Sin always starts in our heart…
1. REMORSE = deep regret or guilt for a wrong committed
Psalm 51:1-2 “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.”
2. CONFESSION = admission that one is guilty of doing wrong
Psalm 51:3-4 “For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight…”
“covering up” to a time of “confession”
3. REQUEST
— 5 requests of God.
Psalm 51:9 “Hide your face from my sins & blot out all my iniquities.”
1-Request for Forgiveness
Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a pure heart, O God,”
2-Request for Transformation
“and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
3-Request for Renewal
Psalm 51:12 “Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”
4-plea for Restoration
Psalm 51:14 “Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God…”
5-request for Deliverance
1. Remorse

4. REPENTANCE = change of heart & direction
Psalm 51:13 “Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you…”
Psalm 51:17 “ My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart…”
James 5:16 “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”
You’re only as sick as your secrets.
Psalm 32:1-3, 5 “Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven,whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.
When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.
Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.”
Sometimes your biggest setback can become your greatest comeback.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:17 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved.”
1 Peter 1:3b, 4a “In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.”
