1 Samuel 1:11 “And she made a vow, saying, ‘Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life…’”
1 Samuel 1:27, 28 “I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.”
Four Gifts that parents need to give their Children.
1. Consistent Discipline
1 Samuel 2:12 “Eli’s sons were scoundrels; they had no regard for the Lord.”
1 Samuel 2:17 “This sin of the young men was very great in the Lord’s sight, for they were treating the Lord’s offering with contempt.”
2.Positive Affirmation
Matthew 3:17 "And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’”
“Your son or daughter, no matter how old, will always want and need to hear these words from you. ‘You have what it takes. . .You are worth fighting for.’” John Eldredge
3.Wise Direction
1 Samuel 2:22-23 “Now Eli, who was very old, heard about everything his sons were doing to all Israel and how they slept with the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting. So he said to them, “Why do you do such things? I hear from all the people about these wicked deeds of yours.” …“his sons, however, did not listen to their father’s rebuke.”

Psalm 127:4-5 “Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.”
4. Spiritual Guidance
“Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”’ ‘Samuel! Samuel!’ Then Samuel said, ‘Speak, for your servant is listening.’
1 Samuel 3:11 “God said to Samuel, ‘Listen carefully. I’m getting ready to do something in Israel that is going to shake everyone up and get their attention.’” (MSG)

1 Samuel 3:7 “Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord: The word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.”
3 John 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

-Discipline: I believe in you too much to let you get away with this.
-Affirmation: I believe in you because God’s gifted you.
-Direction: I believe that you will wisely make the right choice.
-Spiritual Guidance: I believe in you and how your witness can be used for Jesus Christ.
