We are studying through the first part of Luke’s Gospel this winter. This week’s sermon is the second of two from the account of Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness. This sermon addresses two theological questions about Jesus that this passage raises, and then spends the rest of the time examining three common temptations that Jesus overcame in the wilderness. Main Idea: Jesus can help us overcome temptation because He conquered temptation Himself.
Two Questions This Passage Raises:
1. Could Jesus have actually sinned? No.
2. Was Jesus actually tempted? YES!
Three Common Temptations Jesus Overcame:
1. The temptation to Doubt God’s Provision
2. The temptation to Doubt God’s Plan
3. The temptation to Doubt God’s Promises
