One mandate with three honorable ways to apply it.
Live Honorable Lives to Draw others to Christ (2:11-12)
• Honorable conduct to government (2:13-17)
• Honorable conduct to authority (2:18-25)
• Honorable conduct in family relationships (3:1-7)

Instruction 1: Abstain from the desires of the flesh.
Reason: 1: Sinful desires “Wage war against your soul” (v. 11)
Instruction 2: Keep your conduct honorable.
Reason 2: That might draw others to salvation (v. 12)

We are not just freed FROM sin; we are freed FOR a relationship with God.

The best way to fight the flesh is to get closer to God.
