Jesus expects His followers to CONNECT with the Lord and His People for corporate worship.
1. Why do we CONNECT?
Temples
- The intersecting point between deity and humanity
- Usually built by royalty
- The place where the god(s) resided
- Typically, were the center of civilization
- The place where rituals and sacrifices happened to keep the god(s) happy
2. What do we do when we CONNECT
- Contextualized offering sacrifices (Romans 12:1, 4–8; Heb 13:15; 1 Peter 2:5)
- Contextualize observances/feasts/celebrations (1 Cor 11)
- Continued giving tithes and offerings (Acts 2:45, 11:29–30, 20:35; 1 Cor 9:14; 2 Cor 8, 9:6; Phil 4:15–16; 1 Tim 5:17)
- Continued to pray (Acts 2:42; 1 Tim 2:1–2)
- Continued to sing (Eph 2:19; Phil 2:6–11; Col 3:16)
- Continued, contextualized, and began reading, preaching, and teaching God’s Word (Acts 2:42; 1 Tim 4:13; 2 Tim 2:15, 3:16, 4:2; Titus 2:1)
- Began sharing letters and testimonies of the Gospel’s work (1 Cor 1:1; Eph 1:1, Phil 1:1; 1 Thess 1:1; Col 4:16)
- Began practicing sending out missionaries (Acts 13)
